Google applies the feature to highlight content displayed on Featured Snippet

In recent years, Google has always experimented with highlighting content in a web page when clicking on a Featured Snippet on Google search results. This feature is tested on both desktop and mobile devices. It is now available in all browsers and most Google Featured Snippets.

Google Verification

Google employee Danny Sullivan posted on Twitter: "After a long time of testing, the feature has been live since last week. It is known that since December 2018, Google has regularly applied this feature to AMP pages and started to try it with HTML pages last year. The feature is now officially available for HTML pages.”

Usage method

When making a query on Google using a computer or mobile, if you see any Featured Snippet, click it. Google will direct you to the text or highlight the snippet you see in that Featured Snippet.

Here is an illustrative example:

When you click on the snippet, Google will highlight right on the web page the text that was displayed in the Featured Snippet.

The user is directed to the snippet in the source page.

More specific:

Mr. Danny Sullivan provides a link to this tutorial and explains it in more detail: “When you click on the Featured Snippet, the user will be directed to the source web page containing the text displayed in the Featured Snippet. The process happens automatically without the website owner needing to use any markup to activate the Featured Snippet. If the browser does not support the requested technical part, or our system cannot locate the text correctly, the user will be directed to the top of the web page when clicking on the Featured Snippet.”

Conclude.

With this feature, users can flip through ads or phrases, call to action buttons to go directly to the content they are interested in. Featured Snippet (or top 0 on Google) is an extremely "prime" position, occupying this position, your website obviously surpasses other competitors and becomes more prominent. Therefore, SEOs should take measures to check if their website is in Featured Snippet, then find ways to optimize content to appear on Featured Snippet.
